Hospitality - The Welcoming Committee
What is Hospitality?
The Merriam Webster defines hospitality as the “generous and friendly treatment of visitors and guests : hospitable treatment” and that’s basically what this team is all about!
Okay, so what? (What's your purpose?)
The hospitality team exists to welcome newcomers and help get everyone involved. Our vision is that one day, everyone walking in the door would immediately feel like they belong. That they would want to keep coming back and connect more deeply with others in the church. As a general goal, we want to grow as a family, feel close to everyone, and continue to grow that bond as newcomers come. We love meeting new people and hope to help them feel like they belong rather than it just being another church they visit. It’s our job to reach out to everyone, whether it be newcomers or people who have been attending since Day 1. We hope that by being welcoming and involving newcomers every week, they will not only connect with the members of our community, but also spiritually connect and grow in their relationship with God.
Got it. So what do I need to do?
Being a part of this team includes greeting people when they walk into the room, talking to everyone, and making sure that they don’t feel left out! When I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE. Look for newcomers and people sitting by themselves or people who don’t really talk much and just... talk to them! If they don’t really say much to you in response, that’s fine as long as they know that they have someone who is willing to include others into our diverse One Light Community. If you’re a people person, this would be a great job for you! And even if you’re not, it’s a great way to step out of your comfort zone and get to know the others!
Cool. How do I sign up now?
All you have to do is contact Katie A. or Sharon!
